SQLExecMS is a program having almost everything one needs to work with MS SQL Server versions 7.0/2000 or MSDE. The list of features is really impressive: working with the object tree, executing any DDL or DML T-SQL statements, viewing and editing data, security, search substring in the object scripts, comparing the objects of two databases in master-slave mode, reviewing object properties, analyzing the fragmentation of tables, generating the script of a database, reviewing errorlogs of SQL Server, reviewing space utilization, inserting data using the BCP utility. It also allows you to manage: databases on the SQL server, active connections, scheduled jobs, SQL server, triggers, indexes, extended stored procedures, locked resources. And the list goes on. At the same time, the program works really fast and is easily installed. The program interface is convenient and well thought-out regarding separate features, but unfortunately it does not always successfully realize the interaction of interfaces. We cannot say that the interface is bad - it is obvious that the implementation of so many features within one program is a difficult task. But we think that more attention paid to the interaction of interfaces would turn an excellent product into a perfect one. Moreover, we came across some minor bugs in the interface - for example, tab pages were not fully overlapped. The only really considerable minus of SQLExecMS seems to be the lack of a proper help system. The possibility to get detailed documentation in the MS Word format from the site partially solves the problem, but only partially. It is worth to mention the moderate price of the product, which makes it particularly attractive for working with MSDE where it can fully replace Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager.
