Log Navigator is a program used to analyze the transaction log of a MS SQL Server 7 or 2000 database. It is possible to view the contents of the transaction log and export it to SQL Script or XML. It is also possible to view the detailed information of one log line and to filter the information by a number of parameters. We think that the version of the program under consideration is really bad on some accounts. The program interface provides too few features that could make the work easier, convenient and productive, for example, it lacks even such a basic feature as refreshing the displayed information while working on-line. The features of the program are very scarce, there is no way to perform any kind of analysis, collect any statistical data or anything like that. Working with the existing data is very superficial, for example, all you can find out about the update operation is the number of the line identifier. Sometime the program fell without any obvious reasons or a clear error message during the trial runs. Such an obviously interesting feature as working with transaction log backups turned out to be unavailable, Log Navigator did not find any data in such a log. Additionally, the documentation that comes together with the program is very poor, which does not make for the attractiveness of the product.
