Review (date Jul 17 2003
):
The Analyzer Edition of the program allows you to create ER-diagrams and perform reverse engineering, that is it creates the ER-diagram of the present database while the connection to the DBMS is carried out via the usual ODBC (with all the advantages and drawbacks of this approach). You can print out the created diagrams, perform the consistency check including check for relationship cycles, and build 5 variants of the report with the option of saving them as plain text or HTML. It means that despite its low price the program allows you to quickly and easily study the available database, to get the clear idea of it and document it, as well as to outline the further development of the database along with possible changes in it, if necessary. At the same time the actual database creation based upon its ER-diagram is purposely excluded from the program by its authors. Everything that is connected with that process is included in the other variant of the program called Database Edition that is sold separately. The interface of the program is simple, convenient and functional, though there are certainly a lot of ways for its further improvement. We think that being no competitor to such well known and powerful products as, for example, ERwin, the program can nevertheless become a leader in its price and target group and is definitely a good choice.
