The authors presented DBX Commander as "… a unique tool for manipulation of data…" and that it "… directly supports all major databases such as: ORACLE, Microsoft SQL Server, …". In fact there is nothing unique in the program and it could not show even the existing relations either in ORACLE or in Microsoft SQL Server, while during some operations it could not display the tables available in the DB. The program performs all the declared actions, which means you can build a request, view its results, edit data, import data, build a report, but all those are performed on an average level. Though there are some exceptions such as editing memo and image fields and displaying them in the results as well as Report Designer based on QuSoft's Quick report components. At the same time the program interface is really inconvenient and not user-friendly with exactly what you need at the moment very often hidden and unavailable, while you can find and use many commands only after going through completely unnecessary and often redundant steps. In the process of working the program is constantly losing the connection with the current database; there are a lot of minor bugs, malfunctions, etc.
