Review (date Jun 28 2003
):
AlligatorSQL is a product intended for working simultaneously with various DBMS. It is supposed to be used to view the scheme, to work with processes and connections, to conveniently work with scripts and is declared to work with the following databases DBMS: Oracle, MySQL, Interbase, Birdstep, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, DB2 and Ingres. Unfortunately, in fact the beta version available for downloading does not work with DB2 and Ingres and works only with version 8i of Oracle. That means that the program denied connecting to Oracle 8.0.5, that we use, and just returned irrelevant messages. When working with MS SQL the majority of the most interesting program features were not available without any explanatory messages. Working with MS SQL continued with constant attempts to connect to an Oracle database and was accompanied by the above mentioned irrelevant error messages. Generally, the interface, the functionality and even the help of the program turned out to be absolutely incomplete. We can only wait for the full-featured version of the program and hope that everything will be fixed there.
